Kazakhstan’s President Set for Three-Day Japan Visit
During the trip, Tokayev is scheduled to hold talks with Emperor Naruhito, Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, and senior figures from Japan’s business sector, the Presidential Palace Akorda said in a statement published on its official Telegram channel.
The statement said the Kazakh leader will also "participate in the work of the Central Asia-Japan summit.”
A Japanese public broadcaster reported last month that Tokyo has been preparing to host the first-ever summit bringing together Japan and all five Central Asian states — Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan — following more than two decades of ministerial-level dialogue.
According to the broadcaster, the meeting was originally planned for August 2024 in Kazakhstan but was delayed after Japan issued a megaquake advisory.
The broadcaster added that Japan’s prime minister is seeking to strengthen engagement with Central Asia, enhance economic security, and expand cooperation across a range of strategic sectors.
